Why MSD exists

Most technology problems are operational problems.

Businesses rarely need technology simply because it is new.

They need it because a process is too slow, too manual, too disconnected or no longer works at the scale required.

MSD exists to solve those problems through software.

How we think

Five principles.

Understand the process.

Before deciding what should be built.

Use the right technology.

Not the technology that happens to be fashionable.

Build around the organisation.

Rather than forcing the organisation around the software.

Define the scope.

So everyone understands what is being delivered.

Make it usable.

Because software only matters if people can use it.

The people behind MSD

Technical leadership.

MSD is led by experienced people with backgrounds across technology, software development and business operations.

Clients work directly with the people responsible for understanding the problem and delivering the solution.

Technical director

Michael
Szalaty.

Read the own-operation story

Delivery, development and infrastructure. A builder who also runs the operation.

Twelve years of .NET, systems architecture and integration; roles including BMW Group, Meadow Foods and HMRC-facing tax software.

Michael runs a staffing agency. MSD automated parts of its back office first: timesheet processing, CV qualification, client onboarding and the administration around them. MSD is the supplier and the case study at once.

Michael also builds and operates the Chefs Bay and Chefs Bay Academy websites. That work informs MSD's GEO & SEO service, with related-business search evidence and its limitations explained on the service page.

Michael also builds and operates Wagecrew through a separate company. It is not part of MSD Systems and is not sold here.

Commercial director

Start a conversation

The customer-facing lifecycle. From the first conversation to the work being agreed.

Discovery, proposals, negotiation and the client relationship, start to finish.

Martin has a background in SaaS and digital, and works as a software developer. He runs every commercial conversation from the first call to the signed scope.

Choosing what to build

We don't pretend every problem needs a new system.

Sometimes the answer is an integration.

Sometimes it is automation.

Sometimes the existing technology is good enough.

Sometimes the process itself needs changing.

Our job is to understand which one applies.

How we work

Direct involvement.

We keep the people who understand the problem close to the work.

The person who understands the requirement should not disappear into a sales process and hand everything to a delivery team they have never met.

A conversation with a director

Have a process that needs fixing?

You do not need to know what technology you need. Tell us about the process. We will work out whether MSD can help.

Your operation is the starting point.
